Master Series
From Innovation to Resonance
From Technology to Emotion
From Tradition to Future
For a century, Kawai has devoted itself to crafting pianos —
instruments that embody precision, beauty, and richness.
The Master Series is the new legacy of the quest for perfection.
Born from generations of craftsmanship and refined through modern innovation, each piano
resonates with a tone that is rich, colorful, and alive — a sound shaped not only by skill,
but by heart.
Beyond the perfection, Master Series invites you to discover the inner voice and to
transform the everyday into timeless memories
― where mastery meets life.
Every note begins with a touch
— where precision meets emotion,
and craftsmanship transforms movement into music.
Our Millennium III Upright Action incorporates ABS-Carbon components, combining carbon-fibre reinforcement with advanced ABS engineering to achieve exceptional strength and rigidity. This allows for lighter, finely balanced action parts that respond with greater speed, consistency, and control. The result is a more expressive, stable playing experience. One that surpasses the limitations of conventional all-wood upright actions.
Longer key length provides a more even, predictable response across the entire playing surface, allowing the instrument to feel naturally balanced beneath the hands. This added leverage, like that of a grand piano supports greater control, particularly in demanding passages, making playing feel more effortless and precise. Enhancing the playing experience, white keys are finished with Kawai's exclusive NEOTEX surface, offering a refined, ivory-like touch that absorbs moisture for secure contact and lasting comfort over years of use. Ebony black keys provide a naturally textured surface that conforms subtly to the fingers, enhancing grip, sensitivity, and delicate control.
From the legacy of Kawai's craftsmanship comes your sound that mirrors the heart
— warm, pure, and deeply human.
Built upon the trusted foundation of the K-Series, the Master Series is shaped around a refined structural design created to stand firm over time. At its core is a strengthened back framework that provides quiet confidence, supporting the instrument as it holds tension, preserves balance, and allows the sound to develop freely. This underlying strength gives the piano a sense of stability you can feel from the first note, particularly in the lower register, where depth and presence rely on a structure that will not yield. The soundboard, crafted from carefully selected, straight-grained solid spruce and subtly tapered by hand, is allowed to resonate naturally, responding with warmth, clarity, and control. The result is an instrument that feels grounded and assured, a piano whose strength is never heard, but always felt. A foundation of stability that supports expressive tone and preserves the musical character of the Master Series for years to come.
The Master Series expands expressive possibilities through the simultaneous use of
the muffler mechanism and sostenuto pedal — a rare combination in upright
pianos.
By adopting a dedicated lever control for the muffler, both quiet practice and
advanced pedal techniques can be enjoyed without compromise.
This thoughtful design provides greater versatility and expressive freedom, adapting
seamlessly to the needs of every pianist and performance setting.
The redesigned pressure bar and stainless bearing bar provide greater string
stability and clearer tone, delivering a richer, more brilliant sound across the
upper register.
High-quality tuning pins enhance long-term tuning stability, ensuring the piano
maintains its beautiful, refined tone over many years of playing.
Every note is shaped with intention. Hammer materials chosen specifically for the Master Series work in harmony with hand-wound bass strings inspired by Shigeru Kawai grand pianos, giving the instrument a voice that feels unmistakably Kawai; warm, resonant, and full of character. This depth of sound invites expression. From the softest pianissimo to moments of powerful intensity, the piano responds naturally to your touch, allowing music to unfold with richness, nuance, and emotional clarity.
Designed not only to be seen, but to belong
— a piano that lives gracefully within the rhythm
of everyday life.
With its gracefully rounded, substantial cabinet and a lift-up lid inspired by grand
pianos, the Master Series presents a design that blends effortlessly into any living
space while offering a refined, reassuring presence.
More than an instrument, it becomes part of the room—elevating both the act of
playing and the everyday moments that surround it.
The interior of the Master Series is a testament to meticulous craftsmanship at every turn. Bird’s-eye maple sideboards, reminiscent of a Shigeru Kawai grand piano, radiate a deep, lustrous beauty, while polished brass is thoughtfully incorporated across every component—from front and back casters to pedals and even internal bolts—casting a warm, luxurious glow. Finely finished frames and hardware extend this elegance to every corner, creating a presence that is as visually captivating as it is acoustically exquisite.
Every Master Series piano embodies years of dedicated design and meticulous craftsmanship.
Skilled artisans refine each component and shape the sound with patient care, culminating in
a final tuning and voicing that reveal the instrument’s full musical potential. Knowledge,
passion, and unwavering attention to detail converge in every note, creating an upright
piano of
exceptional presence and timeless elegance.
