FAQ

The page turning feature of the PiaBookPlayer app doesn't work on my AR/ATX upright hybrid piano. What should I do?

A

The PiaBookPlayer app allows Kawai digital and hybrid piano customers to view the notated scores for a large selection of classic lesson pieces on their iOS or Android smart device.

This app also features hands-free page turning, by using the piano's pedals to show the next or previous page. However, the page turning feature utilises the sostenuto pedal and therefore requires an instrument with triple pedal functionality.

AR/ATX upright hybrid instruments do not offer sostenuto pedal functionality by default, therefore the page turning features of the PiaBookPlayer app will be limited.

However, it is possible to change the behaviour of the AR/ATX upright hybrid piano's soft pedal, so that it functions as a sostenuto pedal using the following procedure:

(While the AR/ATX upright hybrid piano is turned off)
1. Depress and hold the soft pedal
2. Turn on the AR/ATX control box
3. Release the soft pedal

The soft pedal should now function as a sostenuto pedal, allowing the PiaBookPlayer app's page turning features to be used.

To restore the soft pedal functionality, turn the AR/ATX control box off and on again.
