FAQ

My Kawai digital/hybrid piano turns itself off after a period of inactivity, what should I do?

Digital PianosHybrid PianosPower

A

Kawai digital/hybrid pianos incorporate power saving features that can turn off the instrument automatically after a specified period of inactivity.  In some regions, this "Auto Power Off" function may be enabled and set to "15 Minutes" before an instrument is shipped from the factory, in order to comply with local energy conservation regulations.

For more information about changing the "Auto Power Off" setting, please refer to the owner's manual included with your Kawai digital/hybrid piano.

About "Auto Power Off" and Bluetooth

If a Kawai digital/hybrid piano is connected to and interacting with a device via Bluetooth MIDI, the "Auto Power Off" setting will still be observed. For example, if the "Auto Power Off" setting is set to 15 minutes and the PianoRemote app is being used to control the piano, if there are no app operations after 15 minutes, the instrument will turn off automatically.

Please note, however, that if an instrument is connected to a device via Bluetooth Audio, the "Auto Power Off" setting will also still be observed, even if the device is currently streaming audio to the piano. Therefore, customers who wish to stream audio to their piano via Bluetooth for extended periods of time, may wish to consider disabling the "Auto Power Off" function, in order to prevent the instrument from turning off automatically after a period of inactivity.

About Power Consumption

Please note that changing the "Auto Power Off" setting to "Off", "60 Minutes", "120 Minutes" may increase the instrument's power consumption. To reduce the instrument's power consumption, it is recommended to set the "Auto Power Off" setting to "15 Minutes".
