Please note that under most circumstances, Kawai instruments are only eligible for warranty support in the country that they are purchased from. If a Kawai instrument is purchased and shipped from another country, it may not be eligible for warranty support from your local Kawai subsidiary/distributor. For this reason, Kawai recommends that customers purchase from local/domestic dealers and retailers whenever possible. If purchasing from another country is the only option, Kawai recommends that customers consult with the retailer to confirm warranty and support terms.
Kawai digital and hybrid instruments produced for the domestic Japanese market will display user interface text in Japanese by default. To change the default display language to English, it is necessary to first change the "Display Language" setting, and then use the "Startup Settings" function to store the instrument's configuration to memory.
The following steps outline how to perform this process on the ES920 portable digital piano.
Changing the display language from Japanese to English
(After turning the ES920 on)
1. Press the MENU UP button once.
2. Press the VALUE UP button once.
3. Press the MENU UP/DOWN button continuously until you reach setting no. 1-15 (表示言語).
4. Press the VALUE UP/DOWN button.
The display should change from Japanese to English.
Storing the current configuration to memory
5. Press the EXIT button.
6. Press the VALUE UP/DOWN button until you reach setting 1-11 Startup Setting.
7. Press the REC (Record) button, then press the VALUE UP button.
This will store English as the default "Display Language" setting, which will be recalled every time the instrument is turned on.
